Notes:Descending out of 13,500 feet where we had about a 60 knot tailwind. As I started my descent to land at KFDR, the wind diminished and I just could not get it to 200 kts but had to settle for 199 kts in smooth air. This is in a Cherokee 140 with standard 150 HP Lycoming O-320 with a normal cruise speed of 106 kts.

Date:15 November 2007
Notes:Was attempting to fly home to Atlanta from Charlotte, and had a weather system that had me fighting 65kt headwinds... finally gave up and headed back to Charlotte for the night, and achieved 192kt groundspeeds in level flight. True airspeed in the cherokee is around 120kt, so that was a healthy 72kt tailwind at approx 4000'.

Notes:Getting vectored at 3000FT for the ILS into KCAK. We were only showing 35KT with the headwind and then swung the aircraft around to show a 171KT groundspeed with roughly a 65-70kt tailwind.
