    • Notes: I have included a picture of the EHSI which shows that we had a 212 Knot tailwind. This is just abeam Lexington Kentucky. We were down at 29000 feet because the ride was pretty poor up high. Smooth as silk at 290 and nice tailwind! I bumped up the speed to Mach .83 to see what kind of groundspeed we would get. The FMC had us cruising at .74 with a Cost Index of 40 because of the high tailwind.

    • Notes: On the way back from JFK to ORY, on track X at FL380 and 030W, we get some winds of up to 200kts full tail. I remembered we had to delay our departure to avoid to land earlier than 0600L in ORY and pay some penalties. I passed the information on to our passengers before the flight, telling that according to our flight plan we should reach the speed of sound in ground speed and they were very excited about it. Of course had to answer tons of questions, very funny... In flight, we were about 60 NM right from the core of the jet stream and it was exceptionally smooth for the circumstances. Was flying M.80 but the TAT was a kind of warm. I did not know about the existence of this site and was recommended by a former record breaker (sorry Ch...), thanks. Flight time to ORY was 05h40. My wife was surprised to feel me early in bed... I checked, nobody in the wardrobe ;-)
