WALL OF FAME
    • Name: Sam Sun
    • Airline: Private
    • Date: 23 January 2010
    • Notes: I had recently purchased a portable O2 system, and with forecast high winds at altitude, it seemed like the day to play. I went up to 17500' and found some 80 knot winds in smooth air. I amused myself with a 1 kt hover, then turned around for a Vno dive with the tailwind. For the purists, the level flight groundspeed was about 200 kts.

    • Date: 28 December 2010
    • Notes: Returning from FRG to ASH my groundspeed at 5500' was 63Kts. It seemed like a good chance to replace the current Tiger speed record, so I climbed to 7500' and turned to get the minimum groundspeed. I then did a 180 and dove in the yellow arc to obtain a GS of 234Kts. Thus I eliminated our NE AYA director from the third place slot, and bumped my buddy Rex to number 3! Sorry, Dan.

    • Notes: Sam Sun says his level flight speed was only 200kts. Sustained level flight at 10,900' was maintained by N701TH for 7 minutes at 205Kts. There is no picture to document this, but the track information is still on line at the FlightAware site:
